City-State Brewing Company
The Flavor of the District
Founder James Warner is committed to paying homage to his adopted hometown of Washington, DC, but he knows that it will take more than a name to make a mark on the DC beer scene. James quit a promising career in politics to go all in on his hobby. He has worked in every capacity in the business, and all the while with the intent to learn as much as possible about the beer business so that City-State can be as successful as possible. We were sold on the beer at first taste, and it didn't take much longer for us to be sold on the team. With a solid business plan in place and a significant amount of money already raised, James is far along in the process. Mothersauce will join with him to get City-State across the finish line and open for business in 2019.
Bowling Lounge, Music, Bar & Grill
Adam Stein is a well-respected Chef and industry veteran who has launched multiple successful concepts over the years, and now he is ready to launch his own. The Eleanor will help to define NoMa as the District's next great neighborhood. The 5,500 square foot location will feature four mini-bowling lanes, event/music space, a movie screen, bar and lounge area and an incredible outdoor patio . Think of it as a cooler, bolder Spider Kelly's. The Eleanor has the size, the style and the skill to make a huge impact that will go far beyond its neighborhood. Construction is underway, and The Eleanor to be pouring cocktails by the summer of 2018!
Takoma Beverage Company
Mothersauce Partners fully funded and is providing expertise to Takoma Beverage Company— a high end coffee and drink concept in downtown Takoma Park, MD.
Takoma Beverage Company is a welcoming neighborhood café, specializing in handcrafted coffee and tea, along with beer, wine and cocktails. The two owners have 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry and come from one of the most successful coffee concepts in the DC area. They bring with them a tremendous amount of institutional knowledge to go with their passion.
We are thrilled to be a part of this project, and we are convinced it will make a significant contribution to the food and drink scene not only in Takoma Park, but also in the entire region. The original store has completed an expansion only six months after opening (June, 2017) allowing it to double in size, and Mothersauce is hard at work securing new locations.
